(Optional) To email all guardians in a class, at the top, click Email All Guardians.An email window opens with the email addresses populated in the To field.Next to the student’s name, click More More and then Email guardians.However, you also have the ability to email all guardians (or just one) whenever you want. Guardians receive automated emails either daily, or weekly, when they accept your invitation to Google Classroom. To invite multiple guardians, insert a comma between the email addresses.Next to a student’s name, click Invite guardians.When a guardian accepts the invitation, the guardian’s email is linked to the student in all of their classes. If a student does not have a guardian listed, any teacher can invite them. When you scroll down the list of students in your class on the people tab, you’ll see who has a guardian and who does not. Scroll down to general and click the toggle button next to Guardian summaries.Click on the name of a class, and then the settings button (gear).This setting must be turned on for EACH CLASS INDIVIDUALLY. It is a great way to follow your student’s assignments but provide a certain level of autonomy to students as they navigate middle school. By default, email summaries are TURNED OFF. Google Classroom Guardian Access allows parents and guardians to set up email summaries of student work that is due, upcoming, and past due. Underneath Guardian summaries, it says See example. Where it says Guardian summaries, slide the grey button to the right, and it will turn green to indicate this feature has been turned on. To invite multiple guardians, insert a comma between the email addresses. To turn on Guardian summaries, click on the Settings icon (right-hand corner of the stream page) and scroll down to General. Many of us may assume parents are getting weekly emails about what’s happening in our Google Classrooms, but if you haven’t turned it on yourself, then they are not. Solution: Either have your student do this or do it for him/her: 1) unenroll student who signed in using their Gmail account from the Google Classroom, 2) re-enroll student using their PISD email address. Next to a student’s name, click Invite guardians. Guardians choose the frequency of the emails-daily or weekly-and can unsubscribe at any time (or change the frequency).
